Float Operated Level Switches are those switches that are used to detect the level of a liquid in a tank or container. As the liquid level rises or falls, it floats on top of the liquid surface and serves as a mechanical switch. The float moves a magnetic sleeve into or out of the field of a switch actuating magnet as the liquid level rises or falls, allowing the switch to operate. Float Operated Level Switches are effectively isolated from the regulated liquid by a non-magnetic barrier tube.
